What a better way to experience all this than going on-board, the Maharajas' Express and embark on tastefully-crafted journey, the Southern Sojourn. An itinerary of 8 days, it takes you to some of the best south Indian destinations including Ratnagiri, Goa, Hampi, Mysore, Cochin, and Kumarakom.
All the destination have their own specialities. Some of the major highlights of this tour are the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Hampi,exploring the ruins of Ratnagiri Fort, and the Goan church of Basilica of Bom Jesus, , Canoe cruise in Kumarakom and the majestic Wodeyar Palace in Mysore.Maharajas' Express is famous for its world class facilities and luxurious interiors.

Guest have to board Maharaja Express at least an hour before the train’s departure time at the venue that is assigned in Mumbai for pre-boarding facilities. All the final details related to departure timings and venue will be emailed or handed over to you along with travel document and voucher, 14 days before to the departure date.

Assemble at 6:30 hours at the Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai, for completing the registration and check in formalities to go aboard the Maharaja’s Express. Enjoy your welcome drinks and board the train get settle in your cabins.Relish a wholesome breakfast and lunch on board. Deboard the train for a day trip to Ratnagiri, it is blend of beauty and history. Explore the Ratnadurg Fort ruins which is surrounded by the Arabian Sea from three sides. The fort is shaped in a form of horse shoe.
You can also visit The Thibaw Palace, Tombs and the government museum.
Return to the train as it proceeds towards Goa.
On the 2nd day have a hearty breakfast on board. Embark for your day trip to Goa. Here you will visit the UNESCO world heritage site, Basilica of Bom Jesus that preserves the mortal remains of Saing Francis Xavier.
Thereafter you will go to Secathedral which is right opposite to Bascilica of bom jesus.
Lunch is arrange at an elite location.
Later in the evening you can go for a walking tour to the old Panjim. The architecture of the houses here have a mix of Portugal and Goan culture.
Return to the train for special evening with drinks and dinner at luxurious restaurant.
Overnight journey as the train proceeds for its last destination Hampi.
Maharaja’h express starts its journey early morning towards Hampi. Relish a scrumptious breakfast on board while treating your eyes to the beautiful landscape of India. Leisurely lunch is served on board.
Later disembark from the train to visit the Anegudi Village. It is situated right across the River Tungabhadra. Here you can interact with the locals and get to know about their routine and lifestyle.The other option is that you can rejuvenate yourself by a spa session at a popular city hotel.
Return to the train, dinner and overnight on board.
Have a wholesome breakfast on board, thereafter take a day trip of the city, go to the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE site of Hampi. This is a sight with stunning manmade wonders.Here you will mostly see Dravidian style of architecture, there is a huge area located to these stone structures.
Popular temples that you can visit Ganesh statue, Virupakrsha temples, Narasimha statue and the elephant stables.
The musical pillar temples and the stone chariot temples are not to be missed.
You can even take city tour ride on tuk tuks or battery operated carts.
Return to the train, have your dinner at the leisurely restaurant.
Overnight on-board the Maharajah' Express as you move to next destination Mysore.
Have your breakfast on board. Enjoy a day trip to majestic Wodeyar palace, also known as Mysore palace. The royal family of Mysore still resides in it.
The palace is one of the largest South Indian palaces complex. The complex include various structures like gardens, 2 ceremonial halls and number of courtyard
Lunch is arranged for you at the Lalita Mahal Palace Hotel. This is a heritage property which was constructed in 1920’s by Wodeyars specially for the viceroy of india. The major attraction in the palace are ball room, viceroy hall and the restaurant
Later you can go to visit Shreerangpatnam the capital of Tipu Sultan.
Return to the train for dinner and overnight stay on board as the train proceeds towards it’s next destination Cochin.
Have a wholesome breakfast on-board. The day is at leisure so you can enjoy facilities and luxury of Maharaj’h Express.
After your lunch, disembark from the train for a day trip to a village where traditional arts of Kerala are practiced. Enjoy a tuk tuk ride in Model Eco Tourism village.
You can head to an exclusive Chinese Fishing Nets (fixed land installation for fishing), industry making coir products and a traditional crab farm.
Dinner is arranged with traditional South Indian dance performance at an exclusive venue.
Overnight journey on-board.
Have a scrumptious breakfast on-board. Get excited for a Canoe ride on the Kumarakom backwaters. The Canoe make its way from the narrow canals. Get mesmerized by the coconut palm trees lined on the landscape. Lunch is arranged you at an exclusive lakefront venue.
Later you can visit the snake boat race, where a single boat has 60 boatmen who row the boat in an amazing way with energetic songs and drum beats.
Evening drinks and dinner are arranged at the leisurely restaurant on board.
Overnight stay on the train.
The train has entered Kochuveli Railway station, Trivandrum. Early in the morning enjoy a wholesome breakfast.
Later deboard from Maharaja’s express, Complete the checkout formalities and bid goodbye.
